A Dropby product
DropSphere by Dropby
DropSphere is a guest check-in and stay guide tool for short-term rental hosts, built by Dropby in Essen, Germany.
Who built it, and why
DropSphere was not designed in a meeting room. Murtuza, who hosts two apartments in Essen himself, built it because the tools he tried either stopped at a digital house manual or left him without any direct way to reach the people sleeping in his flats.
So he wrote the tool he wanted at his own front door, then ran it on his own bookings until it held up: more than 130 guests from 34 countries have checked in through it so far. Every step below exists because a real guest needed it.
How it works, in five steps
The guest receives a link
It arrives inside the Airbnb or Booking.com message thread, or appears on the apartment's Wi-Fi login page when they connect.
A short, airline-style check-in
Before the stay hub opens, the guest confirms who they are and leaves their contact details, so the host has a verified record of who is staying.
The stay hub opens by itself
Once check-in is done, everything unlocks without a password: German and English side by side, a visual walkthrough of the flat with pins to tap for appliance manuals and tips, an invoice tab where business travellers fill in their company details, plus Wi-Fi and house information.
Dropby Concierge, if you want it Pro add-on
Hosts can switch on a concierge that answers guest questions around the clock. It is optional and billed separately.
Staying in touch after checkout
When the stay ends, guests can receive discount codes and direct-booking offers by email, and can unsubscribe whenever they like.
